How fat dissolving works
Fat dissolving injections deliver an active ingredient that breaks down the membranes of fat cells in the treated area. The body then clears them naturally over the following weeks. It is designed for small, defined fat deposits and is not a weight-loss treatment. Maintaining a stable weight helps preserve the result.

Sessions and downtime
Most people need more than one session, spaced several weeks apart. Swelling, tenderness and some firmness in the area are expected for several days after each session, so plan social events accordingly. Dr. Bahar checks suitability first. Skin laxity or muscle-related width may need a different treatment, such as masseter Botox.
Side effects, risks and suitability
Common and usually short-lived
Marked swelling, tenderness, bruising, numbness and firmness in the treated area are expected for several days, especially under the chin.
Less common but important
Uncommon effects include temporary nerve irritation causing an uneven smile, difficulty swallowing, or skin injury at the injection site. Report severe or worsening pain, skin changes or trouble swallowing straight away.
When it may not be suitable
Pregnancy or breastfeeding, infection in the area, significant loose skin (which can look looser once fat reduces), or swelling in the neck that has not been assessed medically. It is not a weight-loss treatment.

Downtime and aftercare
Cool compresses help with swelling. Avoid intense exercise, heat and massaging the area for 24–48 hours, and allow several days before social events after each session.
