Masseter Botox in Dubai
A softer, slimmer lower face and relief from jaw tension, with a non-surgical treatment in a short clinic visit.
What masseter Botox does
The masseters are the strong chewing muscles at the angle of the jaw. When they are large, often from clenching or grinding, they make the lower face look wide and square. Botox relaxes the muscle, and over the following weeks it gradually reduces in bulk. The result is a slimmer, softer jawline that many patients describe as a V-shape. For many people it also eases jaw tension.
Who it suits
- A wide or square lower faceWhen the width comes from muscle rather than bone or fat.
- Clenching and grindingRelaxing the muscle can ease jaw tension. Dental advice is still important for bruxism.
- Facial slimming goalsOften combined with jawline or chin filler for contour.
How results develop
Unlike forehead Botox, the slimming effect is gradual. The muscle relaxes within days to weeks, and visible slimming typically develops over several weeks as the muscle reduces. Results commonly last several months, and repeat treatments can maintain the effect. Dr. Bahar doses conservatively so chewing and smiling feel normal.
Consultation first
Not every wide jaw is caused by muscle. Dr. Bahar checks the masseters as you clench and assesses bone structure and fat before recommending treatment. If fat dissolving or filler would suit you better, she will tell you.
Side effects, risks and suitability
Common and usually short-lived
Tenderness or small bruises at the injection points, and a feeling of chewing fatigue with tough food during the first weeks.
Less common but important
Rarely, product spreading to nearby muscles can cause a temporary change in the smile or slight asymmetry; it fades as the effect wears off. With repeated treatment some people notice slight hollowing above the jaw angle, which is one reason dosing stays conservative.
When it may not be suitable
Pregnancy or breastfeeding, certain neuromuscular conditions (such as myasthenia gravis), infection at the injection site, or a known allergy to the product. Some medicines, including certain antibiotics, can interact and should be mentioned at consultation. A wide jaw caused by bone or fat rather than muscle will not respond.
Your consultation covers your medical history, medicines and allergies, so Dr Bahar can advise whether a treatment is right for you.
Downtime and aftercare
There is no real downtime. For the rest of the day avoid massaging or pressing on the jaw, lying flat for the first few hours, and strenuous exercise.
Frequently asked questions
How long does masseter Botox take to work?
The muscle starts relaxing within days, but visible slimming builds gradually over several weeks as the muscle reduces in size.
How long does masseter Botox last?
Results commonly last several months. With repeat treatments the effect can often be maintained.
Will it affect chewing or my smile?
With appropriate, conservative dosing, chewing and smiling should feel normal. Some people notice slight chewing fatigue with very tough food in the first weeks.
Can masseter Botox help teeth grinding?
Relaxing the masseter can ease clenching-related jaw tension for many people. It does not replace dental assessment for bruxism.
