Months of relief from underarm or palm sweating, which is especially welcome in Dubai's heat.

How Botox reduces sweating

Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) happens when the sweat glands are overactive. Botox blocks the nerve signal that switches those glands on, so the treated area produces much less sweat. It is a well-established medical use of Botox, given as a series of fine, shallow injections across the area.

What to expect

The appointment is short. Reduced sweating typically becomes noticeable within days to two weeks, and results commonly last several months, often longer than cosmetic Botox. Treatment can be repeated when sweating returns. Dr. Bahar explains aftercare at your visit.

Side effects, risks and suitability

Common and usually short-lived

Tenderness, pinpoint bleeding or small bruises at the many shallow injection points; palms are more sensitive than underarms.

Less common but important

After palm treatment, temporary mild weakness of hand grip can occur. Allergic reactions are rare.

When it may not be suitable

Pregnancy or breastfeeding, certain neuromuscular conditions (such as myasthenia gravis), infection at the injection site, or a known allergy to the product. Some medicines, including certain antibiotics, can interact and should be mentioned at consultation. Heavy sweating that starts suddenly, happens at night or affects the whole body needs a medical check for an underlying cause first.

Your consultation covers your medical history, medicines and allergies, so Dr Bahar can advise whether a treatment is right for you.

Downtime and aftercare

Downtime is minimal. For about 24 hours avoid antiperspirant on the treated area, saunas, hot baths and intense exercise.

Frequently asked questions

How long does Botox for sweating last?

Results commonly last several months, often longer than cosmetic Botox on the face. Treatment can be repeated when sweating returns.

Does it stop sweating everywhere?

No. Only the treated area is affected. Your body continues to sweat normally elsewhere to regulate temperature.

Is underarm Botox painful?

The injections are very fine and shallow, and most people find underarm treatment very tolerable. Palms are more sensitive, and comfort options are discussed.

When will I notice a difference?

Usually within a few days to two weeks after treatment.
